This course will help you turn your business ideas into future global companies by using business models to help you think through all aspects of starting and growing a company in the global arena.

Career Focus:

Global Entrepreneurship is designed to help students acquire the information, skills and attitudes needed to effectively set up and grow a global company. At the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of various concepts of entrepreneurship in a global environment. During the practical cases, students identify methods to start, grow and build an exit strategy for a company.

The course introduces you to the concept of global entrepreneurship and how to put it into practice for your own business ideas. At the end of this course, you will be able to successfully start and build an international company.

Course content:

The main objective of the course is to understand the principles of global entrepreneurship, followed by their application in business. The course will focus on skills training regarding strategies for building a successful company. The use of case studies, simulations and the built of a group project will help in understanding every step of setting up and growing an international business venture.
Specifically, the course will help you:
– understand global and regional opportunities for entrepreneurs;
– build successful teams that are dedicated to delivering the promised value to customers;
– understand how global companies with customers and suppliers located in multiple countries around the world operate and develop effective strategies for entering the global business arena;
– be able to competently analyse key financial indicators relevant to a company, model cash flow and capital requirements for a global company;
– identify the different types of finance available and the most appropriate source for their business;
– build and successfully deliver a pitch to global investors;
– build and implement an exit strategy for a global company.

Grading:

Grading will be based on class participation (group project, case studies) and written/oral exam.
